State Of Tennessee Recorder Certification

 

Most municipal clerks and recorders in Tennessee are required to obtain the state certification. You can learn more about certification requirements and how to apply by visiting the Municipal Technical Advisory Service's website. Below is a link to the certification application.

The Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) program is designed to strengthen the skills and performance of clerks in municipalities of all sizes. Earning the CMC designation requires completion of accredited educational courses as well as relevant municipal experience. The program equips clerks to meet the demands of their role through quality instruction and partnerships with higher education institutions and professional associations. The CMC certification has supported clerk development since 1970.

The Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation is the advanced professional certification offered by IIMC. This program prepares experienced clerks to perform complex municipal responsibilities through rigorous education and demonstrated professional contributions. MMC applicants must show a strong record of continued learning and active involvement in the profession.
